The Great Pyramid of Giza is made entirely out of it, and with that sort of testimony it’s no wonder that Limestone is widely used as a building material. There are beautiful grey to cream tones available in this natural stone, and it is available in a matt, polished or ‘eggshell’ finish. It can be cut to a variety of thicknesses which make it suitable a superb choice for kitchen coutertops. Limestone is clearly a long-lasting material, but it is important to note that it is porous and reactive to acid solutions. It is therefore important to use 2-3 coats of sealant to avoid staining, and to ensure that it is always cleaned with with a PH neutral solution to avoid any etching.
